1) What did you do before entering the promotional industry?
Prior to becoming part of the Proforma Family, I was actually a teacher. I was looking to broaden my career options after 9 years in education, and the opportunity arose to join Proforma.
2) How did you get started in the promotional industry?
My husband, Justin Washburn, owned his own Proforma franchise and grew enough that he needed to bring on someone to do more of the CSR work to free up his time to do more selling. The flexibility of working for yourself appealed to me, especially with having a young son so we took the leap.
3) What markets/industry does your business flourish in right now?
We do a good amount of work with higher education, midsize corporations, and local manufacturers and businesses.
4) What do you like most about working in this industry? What do you like least?
Having the independence of running your own business is very rewarding. Specific to this industry, the playing field is wide open. There is no limit to how successful your business can become, and Proforma does an excellent job providing the resources, tools and education to help you succeed.
5) What do you think the up-and-coming generation of business professionals will bring to this industry?
It is obvious that we are living in a digital era, and the up-and-coming generation speaks technology fluently. Ecommerce, email, social media and so on have greatly influenced the way we buy, sell, communicate and perceive businesses. I look forward to seeing what our generation continues to bring to the table and embrace to enhance the industry for owners and their customers.
